After watching that I went down a rabbit hole and found a documentary called American Hollow. It's about an Appalachian family who lives in "poverty" up in the mountains. I watched a few other videos related to that also.

I've even seen these type situations locally around here in Louisiana. There's an old mom and dad, who are God fearing, incredibly hard working, nice folks, and have a lot of kids that are straight bums. The family in American Hollow all live on a lot of land and bitch about not having any money and hate their lives. Thier 70 something y/o parents love their lives, make big gardens every year, live off the land, hunt, fish, etc to make it. But all the damn kids are in and out of jail, drunks, etc.

You'd think being raised like that they would mostly turn out to be good folks but many times just not the case. Again, I'm not talking about the Whitakers, that's fricked up shite, just other documentaries I watched from my rabbit hole this morning.
