Happy Bobby Goldsboro Day 2020

Repost of an old thread...in the two years since the OP I have lost both my parents and my only brother, been diagnosed with prostate cancer (and had successful surgery to treat it), and watched the nation in which I was raised show signs of irreversible decline. And so it goes...
---------------------------------
You other old-timers will remember this easy-listening classic from 1973, commemorating that "hot afternoon, the last day of June" that our Bobby became a man.
Long an annual celebration of mine, I only thought it fitting to share it with my Music Board compatriots...and for those of you keeping score at home, if his claim that "ten years had gone by since I looked in her eye" was accurate when the song was released, then that sultry divorcee that 'chased the boy in (Bobby) away' would be 88 years young today.
Tempus copulatum fugit.
