I mean... he hasn't done much stage, TV, or film work so perhaps he shouldn't be burning bridges over something that was mandated by the studio.

while i will agree with what you say, i think this, along with Suicide Squad and Spiderman 3 (TM version) are prime examples of where the studio needs to stay the hell out of the way and let the creative team bring the idea to life.
