Those are both awful reasons, considering that the COVID situation will be substantially similar in the spring to what it is now. Even if we get a vaccine by then, it will not be entirely effective, and the virus WILL spread quickly immediately whenever things 'open back up', no matter when that is. Which is precisely why closing back down is so stupid. We don't know that we will EVER have a universally effective vaccine.

The virus will not be fully eradicated for the foreseeable future, and it certainly will not be eradicated by everyone staying at home. It will just spread more slowly and continue to gut-punch local and regional economies indefinitely.

At some point the costs have to outweigh the benefits. Nothing, not even stadiums and arenas can run at less than full capacity forever.

Yep .It's like the military. Some have to give all where the rest can do as they please. Pretty good idea unless you're one of the ones to be sacrificed.
