No. For all his blustering and bumbling about social problems, Obama was a remarkably corporatist president. Big business loved Obama because he ensured cheap foreign labor, supported trade deals that supported multinational corporations, and expanded regulations that crippled small business growth and innovation. He was only Marxist by rhetoric; but he was corporatist by policy.
And the marxist and socialists rhetoric actually began before Obama; it was prevalent under the Clinton administration for example. Obama just ramped it up.
People forget this because Clinton’s policies were so pro-big business, but his rhetoric around social issues was extremely revolutionary. He was very consistently giving lip service to this expanded government, liberalized culture movement all while simultaneously working in the pocket of big-business behind the scenes. He did that to rally the base without ever actually changing things. Eventually, Obama will be remembered the same way.
