Let's go ahead and crowbar unqualified people into those positions, and see what's happening in 3 to 5 years. I still have faith that capitalism will eventually squash all of this nonsense.

The problem is, we don't have capitalism, meaning in the traditional sense. The government has been funding zombie companies now for a decade+, why does anyone think Tesla exist. Its the highest capped automaker and has never made an annual profit in 20 years, and sucks in all the free-bees from federal, state and local governments... than the Fed keeps them alive with zero interest rates.

Its cronyism.

I used to work for a government contractor (very brief), and some of the stuff I witnessed disturbed the hell out of me. This type of hiring was full on display, even worse the government agency we interacted with was filled with minorities who carrier the biggest chips on their shoulder. I’d regularly witness in meetings those in positions of power getting upset over even the smallest slight, and making everything into a big deal. Needles to say I got the hell out before having to deal with that.
