Funny this thread should pop up. I was literally having a convo with a coworker today about DD, and he worked there previously for a short time in a semi-management role. He basically said, "Yes." And then had some other horror stories about their food handling practices, but that's another matter entirely.

As for Polly, I frequented Ave Pub when it was the place to be for the best beer. It's not that anymore. It ceased to be that around 2016, 2017. I think the ubiquity of craft has hurt Polly's model more than her practices. I still stop in whenever I'm in the neighborhood because I genuinely like her as a person (I'm left, that's no shock, so shite on me accordingly), but I also know I'm just gonna order a Jucifer or something similar and bounce. More places that carry good beer now, some that are cheaper, and many that are closer/more convenient.

I don't doubt low wage earning personnel have a bad impression towards previous employment. Comes with the territory.

Don't care about Polly's politics, I think she is a bad person.

This was a good night.

Some may know I like bourbon and they usually have a good selection including BTAC which we actually had that night.

When you think Ave Pub was at its peak? I would say 2009-2012

I don’t know crap about the IG apology or supposed controversy, but DD is the epitome of terrible customer service if you’re not in “their” demographic. I’m, ahem, mature, and the attitude, condescension, and general IDGAF I’d get from the staff there is radically different than what my 28-ish coworker sees when he picks up my order. I’d walk in and buy plenty—enough for a meeting, repeatedly, and the eye rolls were bad. So I quit going there—-it was made abundantly clear to me that my business wasn’t wanted.

I never got crappy attitude from the little DD on Magazone St by Whole Foods, so maybe it’s just a tone set by managers?
