I think that’s exactly what the President is doing. Besides, he can’t bring the NG or military in without request from the Governor.
Ironically, you cite that they still need police protection to keep supply lines open. That’s where I think you’re wrong. They want to experiment being their own country? Fine. You can’t use US currency. You’ll have to pay tariffs and taxes on imports. Figure out your own supply lines. A society that doesn’t produce anything won’t last very long.
Property owners that are trapped by this insurrection (and it is an insurrection) can sue the city for allowing it to happen.

I don't believe that to be true, see Constitution Art. 4 Clause 4, further codified in 10 USC 253.

Unless the State government has provided a statutory path, no they can't, generally speaking, although I can't say I have read every State Constitution.

Obviously you are 100% correct...but I made the point about the police because that seems to be the gist of their issue and the quote I added was about being able to function without police.

True and a damned shame no doubt. The city and the state taxpayers are liable for the damages because it is those individuals who allow the sad state of police departments to exist in the first place....we ask police to do a near impossible job for a meager salary and then provide them with minimal support. Those property owners were as satisfied with the status quo on that front as most of us are....but we shouldn't be...we should realize the police or as important as health care for the survival of the individual.
