It gives the illusion the league is crazy improving when it isn’t
It’s very entertaining
But seeing these dudes and even old attackers torch low level defending isn’t helping the image of the league to the masses of fans who are not that niche MLS fan base but still knows and follows other leagues.
If owners had the freedom to operate independently and spend what they see fit we would be able to see those quality players in the defense part of the game.

I think you’re applying of projecting your knowledge of the game on the casual fan. Most casual fans don’t know the game as well as you do. People want to see goals. John smith is probably not putting on an LAFC game, watching them tear it up, and then turning it off at 3-1 complaining that the defending is shite.
