Gainesville sucks. It's strip mall after strip mall in the middle of Nowhere, FL.

Don't get me started on the people who actually live there.

Worst place I’ve ever been to. I felt like I would get jumped at any time by a cast member of Jersey Shore. Cops giving out Open Container citations to everyone. Fans were terrible and continued to throw stuff at us all game. If you made eye contact with them, they’d get a cop and tell the cop you flicked them off. A feigned flicking off got the LSU fans banned. Awful, awful place.

I had a pretty good time there. The campus is damn nice and the stadium is massive. As a visitor, you’ll truly understand why they call your section of seats “the sunshine seats”

Their fans are pretty bad, but not as bad as our fans when visitors come to Tiger Stadium. Just steer clear of crowds that look rowdy and don’t get an attitude and you’ll be fine. Like the others say, drink in the bars only....there are a lot of them across the street from the stadium.

If you like to suck cock there's always a gay pride parade in Gainesville around the time of the LSU game.

Forgot which year it was but I went to a game in Gainesville with my future wife (been to several there). Driving into campus there was a big banner across the road that had "Gay and Lesbian Week". I went and got juiced up at one of the bars before the game. Just before the game we were walking up the ramp into the stadium and I was chanting "Gay and Lesbian Week" at the top of my lungs. I was at the back of our group, so they didn't see it when a security cop grabbed be from behind and dragged me to some portal area. I asked him what I had done wrong and he told me I was using offensive language. I told him that there was banner over Main Street with the same thing I was yelling and that it was my 1st amendment right to do so (I became a drunken lawyer in the moment). He didn't care. I was brought to a certain gate where all those that got kicked out were sent, outside the stadium. There were numerous LSU fans there dealing with the same predicament I was in. Once my girlfriend realized what had happened, she went around to all the security cops pleading to get me back in. Once she started crying in front of one he let me reenter. When I made it to our seats we were down 14- 0. I proceeded to watch LSU slowly come back and win it on the Joe Addai drag route with little time left on the clock. Cops over there are absolute tight asses. If you stay in the bar to drink and don't try to piss people off, you'll be fine.

Yes, I was there in 2002 when we won, 37-7 and it was glorious.

Went there in 1998 - the year after LSU beat #1 Florida in BR. Was the worst experience in my life. The jorts had revenge on their mind and they abused LSU fans mercilessly. Swore I'd never return, but drove down with a buddy in Jacksonville in 2004. By then, they had been significantly humbled by Zook, and were relatively pleasant (by Florida standards). Listening to the Florida call-in show on the drive back to Jacksonville remains one of the most satisfying college football experiences I've ever had.

I do not recommend going this year. They are far from humble these days, and will be out for revenge. If LSU loses, you will witness abuse you never thought possible. There will be no police in sight to help you.

City blows

I didn't have one bad thing ruin the trip for me, the city is just lame and ugly.

The stadium was pretty cool, but tailgating sucked, bars sucked, and the one dinner we ate there sucked.

36-7. Also the game that ended Matt Mauk’s season. I was there, UF fans were incredibly nice before the game- they had no idea they would get their arse kicked that night. The folks showing us around before the game refused to talk with us after.

That was the first time LSU had won there since 86 correct? I actually watched the highlights of that game last night. Florida was by no means a bad team that year, it was just one of those nights for the tigers. We’ve played well in Gainesville ever since then besides 08

2002 Florida

That fake fg TD down run by Bech was one of the few times you saw saban smile on the sideline

Me and a few buddys booked our trip to the swamp yesterday. Flying into Tampa to check out Busch Gardens then driving into Gainesville that Friday.

Just might want to get an early start because where I-75 meets the Florida Turnpike in Wildwood can get bottled up sometimes on Friday afternoons.

Don't listen to the naysayers, Hogtown is tons of fun. The bars are north of the stadium on university and a block East (The Swamp & The Social) which are fun on game day. On Friday hit downtown which is also on University but 13 blocks East to Main street area. After you get your drink on, get some delicious Cuban food from Flacos and dream of being Gatorbait all night long!

Have a good time and if you do tailgate, just don't be an idiot and leave the campus with a drink. Also the red solo cup is your friend.

Outside of my best friend calling out Danny Weurfel for setting back the Saints nearly a decade while he got honored at midfield and we were sitting next to his Dad and the all-time fake FG and Jarrett Lee to Terrance Toliver with 6 seconds left....no.
Some peg at the Swamp hit me n the boys with a “You’re gonna pass our gas someday” ... I mean “2 bits, 4 bits...” is their thing for f’s sake...shite’S WEAK

Have been to every venue in the SEC
Florida is the worse. Most obnoxious fans, tailgating is bad just not a good place
