They want to tear down the statue of the former President who defended New Orleans.
Ironically enough Andrew Jackson hated the entire City of New Orleans. He had to threaten people with the firing squad to get them to build fortifications and shoulder a musket. Not much has changed, the City is still occupied and run by lazy, worthless people. I think if you could break out a Ouija board and communicate with Andrew Jackson (who didn't even want the statue built), he'd be fine with it going away.
My sentiment is the same. The destruction of history is the removal of life's most expensive lessons.

'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. ' (George Santayana-1905). In a 1948 speech to the House of Commons, Winston Churchill changed the quote slightly when he said (paraphrased), 'Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it. '
