What is the easiest way to capture a still shot from an .avi that can play in either realplayer or media player.. I always thought the printscreen/paste in paint would work but i am having no luck with that. Anyone have any tricks for this?? Would deeply appreciate it.

Thanks,

I'm guessing you're on a PC?

Play your video to the desired point then "pause" it.
Next use the "Print Scrn" keyboard button to copy the image.
Open your Paint, PSP, MSWord, etc target document.
Paste the copied image (Ctrl-v) on to your document and then edit it.

Hope that helps

Tried those exact options to the tee... It blacks out the screen in media player.. It will show the toolbar and the menus but the screen is black.

Odd. Try opening it with a different player i.e., quicktime, etc.

Actually shouldn't make much of a difference except using PrintScrn on the PC vs GrabIt on the Mac.

Using Printscreen on the PC.. still nothing .. you can see everything when you paste it but as soon as you either save it or print it, the viewable area in the player turns black....

I use the free GOM media player or the free image editing program irfanview to do screenshot captures.
