It wasn't a slip up. Joe Biden is not necessarily a racist, but he has shown throughout his entire political career that he is ignorant of black issues and has for political purposes pushed for legislation that harmed the community.

If you're referring to the ad Trump posted calling for the death penalty in one of the most high profile rape cases of the 80s, the suspects in the case weren't even named yet at the time the ad was taken out. The ad even stated many families - white, black, Asian and latino - can't even take a stroll in the park due to muggers. If you're talking about him maintaining the belief the original 5 are still guilty, then do you believe OJ is still guilty?

A poll came out yesterday showing 40% of blacks, a plurality, supporting bringing in military against the rioters.

If the election was held today, in the middle of a global pandemic, global economic recession, and civil unrest nationwide with an impeachment trial earlier in the year, I’m pretty sure every president in history would not have an easy path to a re-election victory. That said, because of all that craziness, who knows what could happen over the next 5 months that could swing things hugely in either direction.

He was referring to people who opposed the statue removal, not white supremacists. Considering polls af the time showed a supermajority of North Carolinians, including plurality of blacks, opposed the statues being removed, I’d say the comment was accurate.
