The most responsible thing would be for these social media companies to shut their platforms down and rebuild them so they were less vulnerable to manipulation, disinformation, and promoting extremism. Every country in the world having to deal with this (or has acted to prevent by state control) and these platforms have toppled long-standing stable regimes, created genocides, and probably worse to come.

There is nothing about the people making the rules for these Publishers that would make one believe they are interested in being "responsible".
They are interested in promoting Leftist Politics and virtue-signaling, nothing more.
