I'll say this: it started well before he took office. He's a mixed dude, not straight up black. His racial DNA is as much a celebration of white heritage as black. Instead of seizing that powerful fact as he gained prominence, he allowed/played into the black only narrative. He could have been a symbol of unity and racial harmony, but the cultural marxism of the left gave him more kudos for playing sides against each other. Was it a watershed moment that a mixed person was elected twice? ABSOLUTELY. But that got completely overshadowed by the same tired black vs. white tropes that he and his supporters were all too eager to tap into for a greater stranglehold on the discourse. And any repudiation of their stance, however grounded, was predictably met with cries of racism.

Now here we are. Anyone could have seen this coming tbh.
