I hope all this wakes up you and other conservatives to the fickleness of international corporations.

My company had a dozen stores looted across the country last night. Today they donated 250,000 to NAACP.

Target had a store burned to the ground and a couple dozen more looted empty and broken apart. They put out a statement in support of all protests. Any company that speaks out will become a target for both virtual and physical mobs.

Wealth and power has consolidated upward with velocity almost beyond belief over the last 3 decades. Companies do not hold, reflect, celebrate, or project "American values" because the companies themselves are no longer American. They aren't staffed by Americans, they don't sell to Americans. American institutions are, at worst, a speed bump. These protests are, at worst, a speed bump.

Every company dealing with this could easily invest in the black community, celebrate black history, build a new generation of black role models. They could do all of that if they cared about building something in America. They could have sone it for 50 fricking years. They would do that if they cared about building something in America. They don't. So they cut their extortion checks, then they sit in their lily white board rooms and decide how little they can pay child slaves to fund their next vacation.
