After all the Josh Williford debating, I wondered if we may be blinded a bit by the stars. Jacob Hester was a 2 Star guy and look at him now.

Then you've got these 3 star guys:
*Chevis Jackson
*Tyson Jackson
*Brandon LaFell
*Jonathon Zenon
*Keith Zinger

Look, a 5 star guy is bound to be a great player if he keeps his nose clean, but these lower star guys can have wonderful careers as well.

What's your take??

Whats your point here?

Are you telling me we should not get angry if we don't land 4/5 star players, and it is perfectly fine to settle for 3 star players?

I'm saying Scout and RIval could be wrong sometimes with their ratings and some coaches my know better.

Ali Highsmith was a three star too, I think.

Thanks for the late breaking info. Thats kinda more appropriate for the Rant tho, most on the recruiting board are knowledgeable on all things LSU and weve found our home here on this board to stay away from the retards on the Rant.

But again nobody here is bitching about the number of stars, its the film that has people talking. Posters on the Rant are the ones that would make a fuss about the stars a recruit has.

And dont bring to much attention to us, we like it here, how it is now.

No doubt that you can find 3 star players that are very good, but you have a MUCHHH higher PERCENTAGE of 5 star players that will succeed vs. 3 star players.

There have been MANY studies done on this and it has been proven that a higher percentage (the best gauge) of five stars will go to the NFL than any other rating.

Of course you will have diamonds in the rough like Jacob Hester, but of the thousands of 2 stars each year only a tiny percentage of them will actually play on the next level.

However, roughly 50% of the 25-30 5 star players each year make it to the NFL.

The best coaches can find those 'diamonds' but the best bets are the higher ranked guys.

There is a definite correlation.

I hear ya. I want as many 5 and 4 Stars as we can get and I understand we are running out of spots. This whole thread was just to bring a little positive vibe to the commitment we just had.

I'll just wish Josh the best at LSU and try not to get to upset about it.

What are you talking about? I am ready to put this conspiracy BS to rest. I am documenting all LSU prospects (whether they commit to LSU or not...but it is a list of ALL guys LSU is recruiting) and their movements in the Rivals rankings.

I feel ya. Honestly I am not very happy about the commitment, but there is nothing we can do about it. I just hope he has showed VAST improvement in the past 6 months. He is at least a 3 year project but has potential because of his frame. However, he may not pan out...we will wait and see.
