What a frustratingly confusing and ultimately lacking film with another great Michael Shannon performance.

I thought it was pretty good. No spoilers, but I thought the “reveal” scenes were pretty cool.

It felt like a great first parter.

I liked it, but I agree that Shannon's performance was better than the overall movie.

This should have been a series
Too many things to explore with regards to the boy

Agreed. There just wasn’t a story.
By all accounts, the kid was a biological human. Are we to believe an entire collective of humans are essentially born as third dimensional beings in this world and then transition?
Did Aliens create him? Who built the fricking city?
Like I said. A bunch of good ideas but was a narrative mess.

I preferred Don Kirshner's Rock Concert. :)

Was he though? In the final couple of seconds as Michael Shannon's character is looking out at the sun from prison, his eyes glow white.
But I do agree that I would like to know more about the backstory because I think that the world-building had some greatness to it that just needed to be explored more. But overall, I enjoyed the movie.

After the Kirshner and Cornelius crime families lost their leaders, Don Kirshner and Don Cornelias, the Sugarman family took over the late night music business until MTV came along.
