Heiar is a heck of a coach. He was an important piece with the Wichita State teams during their run over the last ten years. He helped develop Fred Van Vleet, Ron Baker, and Landry Shamet. Guard development took a step back once he left. Losing him would be a hit for LSU guards.

The old ETSU coach, Steve Forbes, was a firmer WSU assistant. They had reached out to Chris Jans, a former WSU assistant, and now are moving to Heiar. My guess is Forbes gave them a few names for guys he thinks could succeed like he did before he left for Wake Forest.

The last contract info I could find was Heiar making $300K/year. Forbes was up to $600k at ETSU. I’m assuming Heiar probably would start between $450k-$500k at ETSU as the head coach. I think it could be an interesting opportunity for him if he wants to run a program.
