SO I haven't followed much of MLS at all the past few years.

What's the story here? Did they not have a manager when the season originally began?

Their manager going into the season, Ron Jans, resigned in mid February during an investigation into him allegedly using a racial slur in the locker room. They started the season with Yoann Damet as interim manager. They lost their only 2 games this season.

They had to awkwardly and suddenly fire their mananger Ron Jans in the preseason because he kept singing along to songs with the N-word in the locker room. He didn't seem to understand that it's a big no-no in America. Understandably, the black players were not thrilled and Jans was unceremoniously canned in February, which raised everybrows internationally.

Then they gave their assistant coach Yoann Damet a second crack at being interim manager. But for the second time, the team didn't really play well under his watch. So now they've hired a more experienced manager. Their GM is Dutch, so he's hiring Dutch head coaches he knows.

Cincinnati can't catch a break. It's bizarre how they keep tripping on themselves like this on and off the field since they've joined MLS. They'll probably benefit from the virus pandemic more than any team in the league, since it gave them plenty of time to find a permanent new manager and he'll get a short preseason to work with the team.
