My great aunt bought a house in SF in the mid 40s for something like 25k and sold it for 2-3 million when she retired. It wasn't anything special either.

My wife's cousin lives in CA...around LA I think. We sold our 1100 sq ft starter home in Rayne 5 yrs ago for 95K.....he told me I could have gotten at least 1mil for it in the town he lived in....it was sold at that point but I wondered how much it would have cost (and if it was even possible) to move it to CA ....although like someone else said the land itself would have probably eaten up all he profits.

I feel like there’s an extra zero here somewhere.
Her 1,000 sqft house is selling for $14,000,000?

I think you mean $1,400/sq ft.
