My great aunt bought a house in SF in the mid 40s for something like 25k and sold it for 2-3 million when she retired. It wasn't anything special either.

My wife's cousin lives in CA...around LA I think. We sold our 1100 sq ft starter home in Rayne 5 yrs ago for 95K.....he told me I could have gotten at least 1mil for it in the town he lived in....it was sold at that point but I wondered how much it would have cost (and if it was even possible) to move it to CA
