The previously mentioned Algie Haily is def. a real barbershop.

My favorite barbershop ever was the one I went to for the first five years after I moved down here.

Old school place in the Fat City area of Metairie. Three old arse guys cutting hair, telling stories and jokes with a tv always on sports. Playboy magazine was laid out on the chairs. Two of the old guys had owned race horses and been involved in the New Orleans boxing scene way back in the day. I think they all grew up in the Irish Channel.

Anyway, it was an awesome place and there was a great po-boy shop next door. You could order your po-boy while you waited for your haircut and they would bang on the wall when the order was ready.
