Stolen truck manual

Just noticed my manual had been stolen out of my truck at some point recently, does anyone know if they have the info inside to have a replacement key made?
Its an 08 Silverado.

I'm sure the VIN would be required which would not be in the manual

unless they stole the manual to write the VIN on, the manual by itself wouldn't help anyone get a key made

I figured that but I saw some articles online where car thieves were supposedly getting replacement keys made with info from the manual?
I googled it because I was curious why someone would steal a manual in the first place.
