bullshite. I live in a very rural/small town area.. 1300 people.. and the starting pay at Walmart is 14/hr.

The difference is Amazon connects millions of small businesses directly to consumers (and yes Amazon does very sketchy stuff as well)

This was more of a historical thing — and yes they have upped their wages over the last few years

We live in a market economy where companies compete to win.
Walmart was able to offer consumers products at lower prices. They won. And consumers benefited.
Nobody has a right to a job.
Partially, we also live in an economy in which conservatively Walmart has spent millions in lobbying to ensure their dominance and exploited their relationship with politicians, especially the Clinton's and even using the Podesta Group as one of their primary lobbyists.

I have a hard time seeing how their consumers benefited in the long run.
What do you mean? Can you explain that reasoning?
Thanks.

Sears and KMart merger was the worst decision ever by KMart. It cost their retired employees a ton of money if not all of it
KMart also never understood that keeping home offices in Michigan was bad for them

Seems more like you disagree with government handouts than walmart over this. They don’t control welfare programs. I can’t blame anyone for utilizing benefits afforded to them by the gov.

I've been anti WalMart since the 90's.
It's conquest is complete in my small town as the last stand alone grocery store closed last year. Downtown is full of empty storefronts.

The manufacturing industry in this country greatly collapsed and the blue collar workers that Walmart targets/targeted lost their careers

It will be interesting to see what Walmart does now that Murphy Oil is leaving Arkansas. They consolidated a ton of power when they got in good with Arvest who took over McIlroy.

They could probably pick up a few energy companies at major discounts right now

As did mine. She got out though before the collapse of the 90’s My grandfather worked for Sears and retired in 80’s and took a lump sum, he had railroad and Navy retirement for his later years.

I hope they do to help stabilize the economy. But you will complain somehow.

Trump Nation should be extremely anti-Walmart based on the model they built their company on and their strong historical ties to Chinese manufacturing.
So people who voted for a person who has used Chinese manufacturing for years should be anti-Walmart because they sell Chinese-made products?

I mean they sort of killed small business in small town America. How many empty main streets have you seen when you drive around the country?
You can very easily make the argument, if it wasn’t Walmart, it would just have bee n someone else — and I would agree with you.
