You can't argue with the productivity that's for sure. Speed is definitely a knock, although that second hit in his rivals highlight reel is nasty.

He's ALOT better than Prater, imo, who we signed last year.

ESPN 150 Watch List talent Willie Ferrell has committed to LSU over his other finalists, South Carolina, Illinois and Maryland, The Advocate reports. He is currently holding 10 scholarship offers.
Ferrell gave the main reason for his decision, "The honesty between me and the coaches. They were very honest and didn't try to sugarcoat anything. I learned that they're going to stick with me."

ESPN's Billy Tucker elaborated on the pledge, "This is great defensive land for LSU out of the state of Florida; this is a kid we feel slid under the national radar a bit. Ferrell is ready to make the jump to the next level physically and could develop into a productive inside run stopper for the Tigers with some polish."
"He needs to get coached up a bit on his reads and diagnosing skills, but when this kid locates the ball -- he shows great burst and vertical attacking speed. We liked his versatility on film as an inside linebacker filling strong at the point of attack on one play and showing above average fluidity for his thickness dropping in coverage on the next. Does need to become more consistent in his play, but he has all the physical tools needed to mold into a good SEC inside linebacker."
"Linebacker coach Bradley Dale Peveto has found a guy that fits well into his defensive schemes and is a great complement to projected 09 outside 'backer Kevin Minter."
