I have to drive a Uhaul to Kings Bay, Ga this weekend. I am told the Florida state line is sometimes backed up significantly, on I-10. Can anyone confirm this?

If it is, I don't think i will take the chance. Instead I'll get off I-10 in Mobile, go north to Hwy 84 and take that road east to the Ga coast. Has anyone ever done this route? Is the additional time worth it to avoid a potential stoppage at the Florida line?

What would you do?

84 is a good 4 lane, and runs through the area where I grew up. Plenty of good places to eat along the way. But once you get to Dothan, you might want to take 231 south back to I10 in Cottondale to get back on the interstate. I just don't know about 84 in GA, I assume it is similar to Alabama.

I live in Pensacola. I-10 to beach express at Buc-ee's, south to hwy 90, 90 east back to I-10. This route will bypass FL line on I-10 and takes a minimal amount of time. You can also continue south on expressway and take hwy 98 east into Pensacola if you are looking for a more scenic route although this will take more time. I do not recommend getting off I-10 in Mobile unless you are looking for traffic delays.
