This is a serious question not trolling in the slightest. Is the myth that the Patriots are elite drafters dead?
Like any team he has peaks and valleys, the draft is a complete crap shoot. People started giving him a lot of shite for bad drafting back in 2013 and then he rattled off a couple amazing drafts that lead to another dynasty
But since 2000
ETA since 2013 they’ve drafted Joe Thuney, Shaq Mason, Trey Flowers, Jimmy G, James White, Logan Ryan, Jamie Collins. The “pro bowl” qualifier is a bit misleading since it’s a pretty silly way to value picks
Lot of misses since 2013 but some great hits as well and I’m excited about Winnovich, Harry, and Isiah Wynn as ascending players going into year 2
People consider Bill an elite drafter not because he hits on every pick, but because he understands the chaos of the draft and understands the only way to win it is to have as many dart throws as possible.

So what you are saying is Jerry isn’t the problem and the coaching is?

I mean that chart is irrelevant.
We are talking about 7 years or so without a probowler being drafted.
They are good drafters still. But are they elite drafters?
I've always loved their strategy of moving back and always having a ton of picks each year to fill the roster with cheap depth.
But at some point do they have to stay put or move up to gain some elite talent?

Belicheck has realized that the more dart throws the better, but he seemingly was better in the past than he has been recently. The 2 teams that are definitely helped by drafting hall of famers are the Patriots and Cardinals. The Pats would still be near the top, but the Cardinals would fall to the middle of the pack. It would be interesting to see a data point with # of players who got either a pro bowl/all pro, and the number without the top player.
Either way, I am pumped about the draft, finally something that we don't know the result of, I was starting to get tired of watching LSU games from this past year.
Happy Draft Day!
