I wonder if Greenwell Springs hospital is still standing? That place always creeped me out as a kid.

Drove by there last year and it was gone. I remember seeing it a few years back with barbed wire and no trespassing signs around it. That place was creepy af.

“Do Not Pick Up Hitchhikers” signs for miles.

It was torn down a while ago.

I lived out that way growing up and someone escaped from there and flashed some kids down my street. That was probably around 85-87ish

I think they tore it down and the land was deeded to Central/BREC for recreation. (don't quote me on it)
A helicopter landed in the pasture behind my house back in 1982 or so and a guy with a gun came running out of it into the woods. About 5 minutes later a state trooper drove up to our driveway and told my dad that they were looking for someone that escaped the hospital.
About 2 hours later the copter and the trooper left. I never saw the officer that ran into the woods again and I have no idea if they found the escapee.
About 20 years later my grandmother did volunteer work there helping battered women so I'm not sure that it was a mental hospital at that point.
