Back in the 70s and 80s wrestlers partied like rock stars. There's plenty of great stories from that era about drug and alcohol abuse, bar fights, ring rats, etc. Nowadays most wrestlers are happy to stay home, work out, and play video games. There's still a few guys like Randy Orton that get into trouble but its a different environment. Better in some ways, worse in others.

You have to be a special kind of crazy to be a wrestler anyway, and I'm sure the road and the beatings just make it worse. It's still no excuse for so many of these guys being such assholes.
Everyone always knew Michaels, Hall, and "the kliq" were the biggest pieces of shits in the world, but all of these interviews and behind the scenes things now really just reveal how awful they were.
I actually have turned around a lot on my stance on Bret Hart. I respect him now more than ever. I used to not like him, mainly because he was heel in WWF in the mid 90s and then didn't really catch on fire like he should have in WCW.
But what I've really found astounding is just how big of scumbags the behind the scenes people are... Just as much as the wrestlers it seems in many cases. The Bruce Prichards, and Cornettes, and Russos of the world are all massive assholes. Vince being the king of them all. He's really just a sleazy promoter who became a billionaire by being a psycho.
The brawl for all episode really pissed me off... Here you have a B-teamer in Bart Gunn legit kick everyone's arse, the he gets shite on by the company because he did what he was supposed to do.
Same thing with the Puter guy who could have broke Kurt Angle's arm in a real fight during Tough Enough.
Their fake world gets exposed too much and their reaction is to punish the guy is legit instead of pushing him. It's all pretty sick it seems.
