Got them to add running boards
Oh frick no. Nothing makes that poser ride worse than the fricking running boards.
“Are you going to off-road it?” Yea right, 6 people on the planet off-road 4runners, the rest put running boards on them.

You might find this shocking but there are other benefits of having a body on frame, rear wheel drive comfortable SUV with a proven reliable high displacement engine.
It is one of the last remaining such vehicles and is the king of reliability. Do yes, a lot of people buy this vehicle to pull their boat, camper or trailer and gasp, never go off road.

You’re a dumbass. Straight off the lot they are not ready for serious off-roading (TRD Pro is good off the lot} but with a few tweaks they are off road beasts. I bought a 2017 TRD Offroad Premium and did a few upgrades (real sliders, better rear springs, Bilstein 6112 coil overs in front and Bilstein 5160s in back, Light Racing upper control arms, and a full length EeziAwn expedition rack) and then took it on a 3 week road trip with my son. We did all of the passes near the million dollar highway multiple times in both directions (Engineer Pass, Black Bear, Cinnamon). I did with a Baroud tent and 400 pounds of gear on the roof. It made even complicated stuff easy.
