i want to know what and how the SEC home office in Birmingham, Alabama views this decision.
there is a difference in spearing and targeting.
i have seen replays in SEC games where it appears targeting had taken place but no flag was thrown.
in other games a player was thrown out for targeting but it was clearly not targeting.
targeting is definitely an issue that should be addressed. it should not be allowed to change the outcome of a game by any referee.
if a play is reviewed and it's clear that spearing did not take place then the call should be overturned.
