Someone asked this last week, there may be more discussion if you search.
Cant go wrong with Sony or Samsung, go check out Amazon Warehouse deals and save 20%-30%

I feel like 75 to 80 is a big bump in cost. I got my 75'' for $500 on clearance at Walmart and is somehow a wow factor whenever friends come over. But would you or your wife spend an extra $1,500 for 5 more inches?

At some point you have to ask what is worth it? We’re about to replace a 10 year old Samsung 46 inch. Getting a 50 inch for (no lie) about $350. No real reason to go larger and the difference in price for the 50 to a 55 in the same line is $250. No reason to pay $600 when $350 works.

At the price point for 80+ inches, ultra short throw projectors become a real consideration.

Rob, take those savings over the last 10 years and buy you and the missus the 80". Who knows, maybe in another 10 years you can get the 120" if you are still kickin'.

If I ever get something larger than 70, it is going in a room the kids aren't allowed in.

If this were the OT you would get a lot of answers to that question.

Why would you be lying? Lower end TVs have been cheap for a while now

No real reason to go larger
And no one has ever regretted getting a bigger tv than they originally planned
