I would argue Rogue One is the best Star Wars movie period

I’m no film major, but it does manage something special.
I love the fear that the rebel spy shows in the opening. And the feeling of menace the movie generates, as the camera pans over the city scape, with the star destroyer, above.
It also looks like the original trilogy. They clearly worked very hard on those details. It’s everything from the set design, to the costumes, and right down to the 70s era mustaches. I would note the extras even look like they could have been cast in the original movie.
Where the movie falls short. I don’t think it gives its characters enough to hang onto. I love the casting, but I don’t feel very attached to their characters.
On a somewhat related note.
Felicity Jones, such a good actress. Vastly superior to Daisy Ridley. But also her peers on television too, compare her to Emilia Clarke, for example.
