To me a tall stand of St Aug is tough to beat. I love the lawns in Florida that are cut at like 4-5 inches

Agree. Can't beat walking or even laying in a thick St Aug lawn.

My old house had a fantastic St. Augustine lawn. Required almost no maintenance, fertilize a couple of times a year and run the sprinkler system. Little patches of clover that would pop up every year or two early Spring got choked out quickly. My current house lawn was complete dogshit when I bought it. I think it had every kind of grass and weed known to exist in South Louisiana
