Surprisingly, boats have still been moving at a decent rate. Been a pretty busy week. Lots of mowers and tractor packages too.

There were a few fire sales on toys about a week ago from people here and there getting laid off, but surprisingly the overall market seems like it’s doing well. I think a lot of people have time to use their stuff right now for a change and are appreciating having it or even looking to upgrade. The deals that did pop up sold in hours. Lotta baws out there who are essential and getting OT/hazard pay.

And yes, friends and charters will get you wet now and then but, I’ve always enjoyed coming and going when and where I please.

Don't know much about boats but I want a 80 pound 45 inch Ulterra for my duck boat and they ain't dropped a penny.

I've got a 40HP Yamaha 4 stroke tiller (2012, about 150 hours total) that several people here in Washington have asked me about selling in the last couple of weeks....I up graded to a 60HP Merc because the 40 just wasn't big enough for my 1860 duck boat. I was planning on keeping the Yamaha and buying a jet foot for it and hanging it on a 16 foot boat but I am now thinking about selling it since there seems to be some interest in it. Used boats probably a bargain right now if my motor is any indication...I haven't got it listed for sale but 4 different people have asked me I wanted to sell it in the last couple of weeks because they need a motor and don't want to buy new right now.

Still gonna be cheaper to make friends and book charters.

But that means you gotta go with other people and for some, me included, the greatest outdoor experiences often come when you are all by yourself and not having to talk to someone. My days of crossing the gulf stream alone and spending 3-4 days in the Bahamas fishing alone are probably behind me because with some age you gain some wisdom or temerity....but those trips are some of the best experiences in my life because I was alone and working it out on my own with no input from anyone. I still much prefer hunting ducks and geese alone and will only go with someone else if they have kid who wants to go and they want to get them in the field or a handful of people I have known for years and who can sit in a blind for hours and never utter a word.

The common saying about the happiest 2 days of your life - buying a boat and selling a boat - never applied to me. I bought a 12 foot fiberglass sears tri hull when I 8 years old with money I'd won in a family dime ante poker game.....that was 47 years ago and I have not been without at least 1 boat since...currently have 3 in the fleet but I have had 5 at a time in the past....there ain't no perfect boat...and I wouldn't be without one.

That being said they are a pain in the arse. The damned things ain't built to get wet....if you are new to boats I know that sounds crazy but it is a fact. I suspect a boat would go to wreck and ruin in afew years inside a sterile vacuum but outdoors and on the water? Forget about it....This is why we name them after women because if you don't spend an exhorbitant amount of money on them and most of your time paying them attention they will get even. I like for everything on my boat to work as expected when called for...it is amazing how seldom this actually happens....especially now that the electronics are networked and supposed to work together. I also can't stand a dirty boat but there has NEVER been any other kind....shite in the wrong place, terminal tackle in the most unimaginable places....it is a never ending source of FUN and ENTERTAINMENT.....
