The Brits are just floating the banks who are floating the employers who are being told to just keep paying 80% of usual wages through direct deposit as usual. Seems a lot more efficient & fewer layoffs, avoiding need to file unemployment, etc.

Hell, half this country can get paid by cell-phone. There's got to be a better way.

You aren't entirely right on this.

Plus the check thing. I do payroll at my company. 60% of our employees get a check when everyone is eligible for direct deposit. They don't want it.

For the past 12 years I have tried telling people to not only go direct deposit for work, but do it with the IRS. I always get my return within 10 days of filing. People don't want to listen.

Over 100 million Americans are getting their checks sooner because they have direct deposit set up. The IRS needs updated info for the rest of the people.

So this comes down once again to personal responsibility and not needing a fricking babysitter. Go to irs.gov and update your shite. It is not hard, I did it in January because I moved and changed bank accounts.
