Reports out of UMC in NOLA are that 40% of patients going on vents are coming off.
So not great.
Hospitals are very concerned about PPE and staff getting sick and running out of staff. Intubation mitigates that risk. As a patient, lay on your stomach and cough like a mother fricker, avoid intubation.

This is the only time in my life where even if you aren't "DNR", you are.
