Has this quarantine gotten anyone else interested in sports cards?

The lack of sports has been gruesome, but I recently started checking out some box break videos on sports cards. It's given me the itch to get back into collecting them.
I'm a big trading card game collector, but man, these sports cards are a whole different world. There are like 40 different prizms of each card, 20 different auto prizms, etc
I might buy one of these $500 hobby boxes just for shits and giggles and see what happens

I open packs of 1990 Topps baseball cards from my mom’s basement every now and then.

Yes, I dug all my old cards out of the attic for my son. He’s miserable without baseball so this is the next best thing. I’ve recently bought some “unobtainable” cards from my childhood on eBay and some boxes of new and vintage cards as well.

My son has gotten less interested in cards without the corresponding sport playing.
You’re right the card quality and number of different cards is amazing.

Unless you plan on turning around and selling the LP cards, you're better off just searching for some of your favorite players on eBay.
I stopped collecting when I went to college, but have picked it up since then. Always been a collector just as a hobby

I was saying it makes it pretty confusing, and honestly more of a turnoff.
Compared to TCGs, each card is specifically numbered in a set, making collecting, figuring out, and finding cards so much easier. I find this much more difficult with sports cards.
Trying to figure out how rare each color prizm is hard to find too. I want some of the Pels rookies prizms and autos, but there are just so many and I'm just completely ignorant on them

As a trading card collector, that's very obvious, but I haven't cracked a sports card pack in a long time
How are the retail packs like at Walmart these days?

What's amazing is 30 years later the gum tastes as fresh as it did back then.

Got back in a while back, 5 year old like its now too. It’s an expensive hobby, be careful once you start finding all the razz rooms

About what you'd expect at a place like Walmart or Target. You can still get short prints, autos/jersey cards, but they're rare. You'd be better off buying one of the hobby boxes if you're looking for hits.
I like collecting certain players so eBay is a much better option for me

All junk outside of a couple of products each year. Currently basketball prizm retail is the only viable option

This scummy shite is heavily prevalent in the trading card world. Thankfully I'm not a dumbass and don't participate in them

I just started looking for some Zion, Zo, and BI rookies. No idea what I'm looking at with some of these cards

Is there a good site that has all the sets, prizm rarities, etc?

I see you’ve been watching GaryVee...
I’ve always been into flipping. Bought a $5 pack a few weeks ago and there was a pretty solid RJ Barrett Rated Rookie in there. Sold it for $19 on eBay.

I don't flip. The profit made from flipping collectible cards is so small it's not worth my time. You make more money buying the cards of scarcity and value and getting long term gains. For instance, I bought a 1st edition dark charizard 2 years ago for $45, paid $10 to get it graded (got PSA 9), could have sold it then for $110. After 2 years it's tripled in value (even with a high PSA 9 pop), and I don't plan to sell it anytime soon. You have to put more in upfront, but it's much better off long term

I’m in all of them and have never had a bad experience and have added a lot of stuff to my collection

I got a Cal Ripken Jr. Rookie card. Mint condition.

That's pretty cool, which one do you have?
It's too bad the 80s and 90s are shitty eras for sports cards since they were printed into oblivion

I bought several autos yesterday actually and I’m in a bidding war for another one on eBay.
I pretty much only buy Texas Ranger cards so nothing badass.
