And Chipper played in a pitcher's park.......switch hitting
I love Chipper—probably my 3rd favorite player of all time. But you don’t get extra points for switch-hitting. Now, it takes a ton of talent and a shite-ton of reps from both sides growing up—gotta start that way before you get to the bigs. But guys do it because it gives them an advantage of always hitting against an opposite handed pitcher. Your numbers are your numbers, you don’t get EXTRA credit for switch hitting. It’s admirable the work he and his father put in to develop him from both sides, but again, it was so he would have an advantage. He wasn’t going up there with 1-hand tied behind his back.
And I’d bet anything he juiced during part of his career(and I don’t care). Why wouldn’t he have? Everybody else was. You don’t have to look like a body-builder to get the benefits. I’d bet Jeter and Griffey did, too. Again, why wouldn’t they? Too much money to leave on the table for the Brett Boones and Marcus Giles of the world to pick up instead of you.
