Rednecks in the US eat all kinds of possum, squirrel, nutria, etc. What makes this animal more of a disease risk? Is it different cooking (maybe not cooking) methods?

It's called a wet market where live animals are slaughtered there on the spot

I'll warn you it might be one of the most disgusting things you'll ever see. All of the animals are stacked vertically. You might have ducks shitting on top of cats that are scratching each other and getting blood on rats etc. There is nothing in the video that suggests there is any sort of hygienic controls in place. In fact it's so disgusting it looks like they're going out of their way to NOT be hygienic. Blood of snakes, rats, bats, all mixed together where they're butchering things...
