Really? I'm genuinely surprised at that especially with Ohio right next door.

Other than I-65 turning into an ice rink at the drop of a snowflake, and Indy freeways being full of idiots at all times, I think driving here is pretty pleasant. Fairly predictable gridded county roads, and relatively decent maintenance, and outside the cities pretty sparse traffic.
