We used to fish the Tchefuncte 40-50 years ago when I lived in the area and it had a reputation for being a tough bass fishery even back then. The one spot that had a good reputation was just downriver from Madisonville on that side of the river. There was a stretch of lily pads that held bass.

There’s a small inlet right across from Covington Country Club and then an oxbow for Tchefuncta CC just down from that. You might try those.

We used the river more for skiing/skimboarding or as a way to go explore before we got driver’s licenses. You used to be able to drive a jonboat or skiff through drainage tunnels that ran under I-12 with very little room on either side and hardly enough room to stop and turn around on the other side. Stupid kids doing stupid things.

I'm thinking I probably know some of you. I grew up a couple of blocks from St. Paul's.
