More people have died of the flu this year than the covoid-19. This is purely propaganda from the media making this out to be as big as ebola. its crazy. Yes we need to take precautions but they are slowly shutting down all daily life because of something that doesn't even have as high of a death rate than the flu.

Do you think the immunologists and physicians are in on the scam? My friend who teaches immunology at LSU Med School assures me this shite is real ( and dangerous) and one of the fastest spreading bugs he’s come across. He says the comparison go the flu is absurd.

This virus not only sptreads quickly but can also mutate. We don’t really know how it compares to influenza. We do know it can be deadly for the elderly or those with compromised immune systems.
The concern isn’t just that people attending an event may get sick, but if the virus spreads among the attendees, those people go home andthe probability of the further
Stead increases. So it’s really about containment more than preventing ticket holders from getting sick. It sucks, but they’ve probably made the most responsible decision from a public health perspective.

0.8% of the people who got the flu last year, died. This is with a prepared medical community with exceptional outreach and vaccines that are developed in anticipation of the virus.

3% of the people who have gotten coronavirus this year has died so far. There is no preparation for this virus. There is no vaccine coming anytime soon.

The difference is significant. Over-reacting will probably save lives. Blowing this off will result in more deaths. It doesn't take an advanced degree in medicine to understand the smarter choice to make.

Why did it go from playing without fans to not playing at all so fast?
Simple. Initially this was a precautionary, conservative act that while unpleasant, not very difficult to swallow. Now, this is an actual, legitimate concern and no one in authority gives a **** what you think. There are more important things than making millions of dollars and pleasing fans. No one is going to make that decision without some hard evidence to support their choice because they will be held accountable.

Don't listen to the media or political leaders. Listen to the money. When people volunteer to forgo millions in revenue in this country, **** is getting real.

The death rate for Covid 19 is at least 10 times higher. It’s exponentially more contagious.

Every step that’s being taken now is to PREVENT a catastrophe. You can not take a “wait and see” approach to a virus this contagious. Yes, it’s true that to 80% of the people who contract it, it’s merely a minor illness. But to the other 20%, it’s rough. And to 1-3%, it’s deadly. The population of the US is 350 million. With the ease at which this thing spreads if no actions are taken, over half that number will contract the virus this year. I will even factor on the low side here and say that puts 100million people who will get it. Even IF only 1% of 100million die from it, that’s 1 million people who will die and at least 20million who are severely affected by the virus. That’s a lot of people and this is the low side of the prediction model.

I get why people think this is “no big deal” when they hear 1-3% mortality rate. And if the virus wasn’t so infectious, it wouldn’t be a big deal. After all, 1-3% of 1million isn’t that bad. But 1-3% of 100million is.

May be true, but dangerously misleading. For example, there have been about 75 flu deaths in Washington in the past 5 months of the flu season. By comparison there have been almost 30 covid-19 deaths in Washington in the past 2 weeks. One of the many dangerous, misleading messages from our deranged President.

This is the dumb. COVID-19 infection is a new disease which we do not know much about it. There is no vaccine available to prevent it, no specific drugs to treat infected patients only supportive treatments, and that's why the higher up leaders have to take preemptive decisions like cancelling crowd gathering events. If you think it's crazy then go to Italy now to see how you would feel about COID-19. Better to be safe than sorry, baws.

Practice run for government control over every aspect of our lives.
The virus is real & precautions must be taken.
But the fascists see it as an opportunity to create panic, chaos & fear.
Sadly most are just sheeple who blindly believe government is their god who makes them feel safe.
Postpone everything 4 weeks & reevaluate.
Stop panicking people. Protect yourself, if symptomatic call your doc.
It's not that hard really.

The death rate for influenza is around 0.1%. The death rate for COVID-19 is currently around 3.5% in the United States and 6.5% in Italy. This means you are more than 30-65 times as likely to die from COVID-19 if you contract it than influenza. The reason more people die from the flu is there are many more people who have contracted the flu.

While I hate as a sports fan that the seasons have been canceled, as a physician I realize that this is very serious and can rapidly spiral if we don't try to slow this down before it can not be stopped.

Yep, our media is influencing the world, slick attempt at making this political....in the states, One week ago, 500 cases, 20 deaths....today, 3000+ cases, 60-70 deaths......are some people overactive, sure, always will be.... But wait til your momma or grandmomma or grandkid get it and die(you obviously only care if it directly affects you) then check back in and tell us how overreactive everyone is.....just 2...maybe 3 weeks ago our president said it was 15 cases and would be ZERO soon, how'd that work out?.... This isn't little, by any stretch, and it sure as hell isn't political, unless your a moron....that had to sting

Yes can bet your arse if a democrat was the incumbent this shite would be on the third page of the newspaper and take up maybe two minutes on the network news.

When Obama was president and we had the last outbreak, 3000 Americans died and the world did not end.

This is mostly about politics. This isn’t as bad as the swine flu or avian flu that hit in the past decade.
