I got these facts and figures from wikipedia.

The swine flu outbreak here in the US was from 2009 to 2010.

It started in Mexico.

Those affected in the US according to the CDC were:

59m contacted the flu
265k hospitalized
12k died

It's been 10 years but I don't remember all this panic that's going on now. Why?

Btw, the stock market dropped but came back in about 6 months.

That skinny, POS Kenyan was in office. The media covered his arse at every turn. They downplayed that epidemic because it would make their Messiah look bad.

I'm not sure what the swine flu fatality rate was, but this one is serious.

Digital communication and social media platforms are much more prolific now than they were even 10 years ago.

Also, with each passing day, scientists learn more about pathology and epidemiology.

Different times.

We didn't have 24 news networks or the internet in the 1970s. You'd hear Walter Cronkite talk about it for 30 seconds on the evening news, or see it on page 5 of the paper, and that was it.

We have the means to incite panic much easier now. Not saying this isn't a health crisis, but it is overblown a bit.

I recall the Swine Flu. After an initial brief panic by the media I recall little else. Dont recall all manner of events being cancelled.
