Mainieri’s desperation was evident hugging Milazzo after Alex left batting cage

From Wilson Alexander in The Advocate. As catcher Alex Milazzo took batting practice Thursday afternoon, Coach Paul Mainieri stepped into the cage, pausing the session to explain how to keep your hands in front of the barrel on breaking balls. LSU’s machine was set to pitch breaking balls, and after Milazzo smacked a line drive to the middle of the field on the final pitch, he was hugged by his head coach after leaving the batting cage.
The report noted Mainieri and hitting coach Eddie Smith had drilled opposite field hits since the beginning of fall practice, but players hadn’t carried the approach into games. Though not reported, it seemed to suggest during Thursday’s batting practice Mainieri’s desperation. Occurring this early in the season certainly illustrates the pressure Mainieri is feeling.

There is a thread based on his radio appearance this morning that gives plenty of legitimate reasons to complain.
You don't need to stretch like this.

If you followed Mainieri during all of LSU’s early season slow starts over the years, you’d realize his behavior, his reaction this early in this season is certainly different than in the past. Just something to note as more fans focus on Mainieri’s future at LSU.

Mainieri is now blaming the players and their lack of talent for this unimpressive slow start.. He’is always quick to throw players under the bus. refusing to blame his staff or himself. Why is it all the fault of the players?

Mainieri blames the lack of player talent, I fault the lack of coaching talent. Who’s right?

Insults won’t improve LSU’s baseball season, but if it brings you comfort?

This is a fricking terrible take, OP.

I have mentioned this before on TR but maybe now people will pay attention. There is a kid starting at catcher at Univ of Texas as a freshman that can hit and throw. For whatever reason, we recruited two kids who can hit and one that can grow, none of them can do both. This is a microcosm of PM’s recruiting the last few years (recruit one or two power hitters who can’t field or hit for average, recruit great athletes at SS who can’t hit for power, but move them around the lineup to other positions. For the last several years we have had enough pitching to win, but extremely inconsistent hitting / run scoring. You can’t tell me that there are not 15 guys playing Louisiana HS baseball who can’t field, hit for average and hit for power. Maybe they aren’t THE best , but can perform at a high level in all three. This program was built on the backs of guys who could hit at a decent average and hit for power. Ya ya ya, the bats. Funny how the bats are not an issue for Vandy. Fricking VANDERBILT! Let that sink in guys. If you have watched then play the last 3-4 years, it’s like watching LSU in the 90s and early 2000s.

Probably the professional. The guy who has won the CWS and was in the finals three years ago.

yall can deflect all ya want but this team is not performing to its ability...and if they are....thats scary.
CPM seems lost in the dugout and is not earning that big fking salary.
2009 was ages ago.

Terrible take? You don’t feel Mainieri’s desperate? Really?
