Actually dairy is one of the worst things to ingest if you suffer from autoimmune, especially in the case of AS or Crohn's. A lot of these diseases are triggered by dairy allergies/casein.
There is a genetic component to an autoimmune condition like AS for sure, but as a good doctor once told me "genetics load the weapon, lifestyle pulls the trigger."
Cutting out dairy was one of the most beneficial changes i made. It was hard though. Dairy is in a ton of stuff. It is also really tasty.

Dairy is pro inflammatory along with simple and complex carbs. IGF1 is the most abundant pro inflammatory compound in the human body and it is greatly increased in high carb diets.
