There are three basic types of security Containers.

The one to keep kids out. A metal box with a lock. Buy a tool chest or a WalMart gun safe. No fire protection. Just a tin box.

An Academy Sporting Goods type safe. Will keep kids and crackheads with a hammer out. Will protect from a small fire. Costs about $600.

A real safe designed to keep out professional thieves and an actual house fire. Bust off a paycheck and maybe two.

Your choice.

Thanks for the insight. Maybe I need two solutions. Solution 1 is the cheap shite to keep ammo locked away from kids. Solution 2 is a really nice (but small) safe to keep a few documents and some cash in, that is fire safe. What do you recommend for a very small, but very fire resistant safe? Does such a thing exist?
