The strength of someone's hands, wrists and forearms would significantly matter for someone lifting extremely heavy weights, not a football.
You ever try and throw a K2 football or a nerf football compared to an nfl ball?
Go try that and get back to me and pretend like the size of your hands do not matter.
Bigger hands allow you to manipulate & control the ball more. Better spin, better accuracy, longer distance, more velocity.

It can work against you as well. People with hands that are too big have trouble with touch and accuracy like Jamarcus Russell. Incorrect launch angles with excessive pressure at the wrong places turns into poor accuracy.
