Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is Houstons premier "unique "cultural" event much like NOLA and Mardi Gras,, its not the only one its just the best known in the US
the HLSR has trail rides ( approx 2,500 participants )with a parade a HUGE cook-off/BBQ Championship weekend approx attendance quarter of a million) where private tents hold parties that whores try very hard to get into. Meanwhile, local white trash collects along parade routes and in parking lots to tailgate and mimic the things that local elite and hob snobbery are doing. Then there is the actual name event Livestock Show and Rodeo( last year 2.5 MILLION attended) where local youths participate in a variety of Agriculture and Ranching based events and art shows for the City Slickers, It raises money for scholarships and local celebrities use the occasion to show off. As an added attraction there is a fair with dangerous rides run by gypsies and a bunch of women and slick salesmen that use the occasion to ply their wares.
and then there is the actual rodeo and accompanying stage shows .
All in all that's a month plus long event with almost 3 million people in the last 40 years there have been 3 deaths. Elvis played man, Elvis
The same party atmosphere, people dress up,, stand out in the cold weather of a Southern US winter we eat, drink, party listen to some cool tunes and watch the spectacle
Yall matched that death total with one fricking Mardi Gras and you toss out beads whereas we hand out scholarships

The Houston Rodeo is a goat rodeo at best. No pun intended.
