Small ball. Bunt. Steal. Hit and run. Bunt and run. Force their defense to make plays and let our pitching carry us. Hope and pray we begin to square up some balls.

I agree to an extent. They have got to put pressure on defenses. Home runs are great but shite you can’t continue to go out there and hit fly balls. Hit the ball on the ground and force the defense to make plays. Work the counts. Be aggressive on the bases.

All of this.

But unlike CottonWasKing with his gorilla-ball hard on, WHICH I CAN APPRECIATE mr. Cotton King, I actually like small ball. I love seeing guys round the bases while the defense scrambles like a Chinese fire drill. To me that's more exciting for an otherwise generally boring game like baseball than watching a ton of strikeouts mixed in with a ton of home runs.

This board has spent years, and I mean literally years, saying that all Mainieri did was recruit small/fast players.

Now there are boppers in the lineup, and you are witnessing strike outs and all of a sudden it's small ball time again?

Our "fans" have called for long balls with teams built for small ball, and now call for small ball with a team built for power. BRILLIANT!!!!
